The 14th Annual EcoFest Returns to Tampa Bay 

 

Returning to Tampa Bay on Saturday, April 20th from 10 AM to 3 PM is the annual EcoFest, a popular family-friendly event organized by Learning Gate Community School and the Museum of Science and Industry to celebrate Earth Day. Dedicated to the principles of Sustainability, Ecology, Equity, and Economy, the EcoFest event promises live music, demonstrations, informational booths, and green living products. Local vendors, food trucks, organic farms and gardens with fresh produce, alternative health practitioners, renewable energy specialists, and a variety of green businesses will be in attendance. 

 

The EcoFest 2024 will be held at MOSI, 4801 East Fowler Ave., Tampa, FL 33617. Admission to the event is free and open to the public.

Dr. Kimberly Voss (University of Central Florida) examines the relatively unknown stories of six important women who laid the foundation for improving women’s equality in the U.S. Largely working behind the scenes, they made a significant impact. They include two female political operatives who worked behind the scenes along with several female journalists who also worked within the government to advance women’s rights during the 1950s through the 1970s.
Presented alongside the Smithsonian's "Voices and Votes: Democracy in America," an interactive exhibition that explores American democracy from revolution to civil rights and beyond, running March 23 - May 19. Get outside and make some art in the landscape of Tampa Bay's gorgeous scenery in this Plein Air watercolor painting course. This workshop will meet in one of Tampa Bay's picturesque parks. Soak in the beauty and inspiration of nature as you create art at scenic locales throughout Hillsborough.

This course will meet in a local park and will require moving about the park to find your spot to paint. Bringing a lightweight camping chair, blanket, or other items that make your time in the park more comfortable is encouraged.

Some watercolors and paper materials will be provided. Students are encouraged to bring their own supplies, hand towel and water bottle for cleaning brushes.
