The City of Tampa and the National Weather Service (NWS) provide emergency notifications. Through Alert Tampa, you can "opt-in" your contact information to receive emergency notifications:
- Mandatory Evacuations
- Hurricane
- Gas Leak
- Hostage Situation
- Critical Threat
- Hurricane Re-Entry Orders
- Boil Water Orders
In addition, the NWS sends out Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) "opt-out" notifications to your cell phone if you are traveling in an alert area. NWS will send notifications for:
- Tornado Warning
- Extreme Wind Warning
- Hurricane Warning
- Flash Flood Warning
The Weather Alert feature in the FEMA App
allows you to receive alerts directly from the National Weather Service.

American Red Cross also has a great application for your smart phone to monitor more than 35 different severe weather and emergency alerts, to help keep you and your loved ones safe. Download via Apple App Storeor Google Play or text "GETEMERGENCY" to 90999. Disponible en español.
