The City of Tampa Black History Committee, Inc. (COTBHC) is proud to announce the 35th Annual Black History Celebration, taking place on Monday, February 13, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Tampa Convention Center, 333 S. Franklin Street, in Ballroom C.

This year's theme is "Education & Scholarship: Then and Now," and COTBHC will be recognizing members of the community for their dedication to educating students and making an impact on student lives through scholarships or other educational assistance programs.

The keynote speaker for the event will be Dr. Tonjua Williams, St. Petersburg College Campus President, and Deanne King, News Anchor for News Channel 8, who will serve as the Mistress of Ceremonies.

“The City of Tampa Black History Committee, Inc., along with the continued support of our valued sponsors, remain devoted to providing opportunities to our graduating high-school seniors," said Katrina House, City of Tampa Black History Committee President.  "We invite all to celebrate 35 years of investing in our youth as we recognize influential leaders who serve as educators, and mentors and provide scholastic assistance through sponsorships throughout the Bay Area”.

In addition to the awards ceremony, the Kuumba Dancers and Drummers will give life to traditional African culture through dance, music, and storytelling, providing a unique and engaging cultural experience for attendees.
