On December 10, 2022, Tampa Fire Rescue will play the Tampa Police Department in Badge Bowl XI. Badge Bowl is a flag football game to benefit the 1Voice Foundation, a non-profit organization supporting children in the Bay area that have been diagnosed with cancer.
Our champions are Aubriana and Ryan.
Aubriana is sponsored by Tampa Fire Rescue. Aubriana was just 7 years old when she was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, the most common childhood brain cancer. Since Aubriana’s diagnosis she has had 5 major surgeries, with more to come including a 14 hour reanimation surgery to help with the facial paralysis she suffers due to the tumor. Aubriana’s illness does not slow her down, she has missed most of the past two years of elementary school yet still manages to be in the gifted program. Aubriana finds her strength in her older sister and best friend Abigail, who keeps her laughing.
Ryan is sponsored by Tampa Police Department. Ryan was diagnosed with a very rare sarcoma at the age of 6 ½. Ryan is currently 9 years old and has received around 70 sessions of chemotherapy to date, as well 36 proton therapy radiation sessions. Ryan is in active chemotherapy and is presently fighting cancer but that doesn’t stop this energetic 4th grader whose interest include learning coding, spending time with family and friends, playing Minecraft, and going to the playground with his sister, Brooke.
Badge Bowl is a fun, family event with plenty of activities for the young and young at heart to see and do. TFR and TPD will have equipment, apparatus, K-9’s and horses on display. There will be food, raffles, and activities for all.
The event will be held Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Jesuit High School, 4701 N Himes Ave. in Tampa. Gates will open for games, food, and fun at 3:00 P.M. with game time kick-off of 5:30 P.M. Tickets are free to attend the game, but monetary donations to the 1Voice Foundation will be accepted at the gate.
With everyone’s support, Badge Bowl XI is sure to be a huge success for a worthy cause!!!
