Join Tampa City Councilman Guido Maniscalco and City staff on Friday, February 4 at noon to raise the Italian flag over Old City Hall. This special flag raising ceremony celebrates the 30th year anniversary of Tampa’s Sister City affiliation with Agrigento.
The City will proudly fly the Italian flag throughout the weekend in addition to lighting Old City Hall, downtown bridges, and Curtis Hixon Park in green, white and red, which represent the colors of the national flag of Italy, often referred to in Italian as Il Tricolore.
The Tampa-Agrigento Sister Cities celebration also includes the inaugural Italy Expo, which is set to take place February 4 through 6 at Tampa’s Sons of Italy Lodge. The expo aims to foster greater cultural and commercial exchange between Tampa Bay and Italy - and to inspire Italians to start businesses in the area and state.
The inaugural Italy Expo will especially showcase food, wine, fashion and design from and around the Sicilian city of Agrigento.
