Community members are invited to join Mayor Jane Castor and the Tampa Bay Juneteenth Coalition for a historic flag raising ceremony to celebrate and recognize the importance of Juneteenth in our community. The ceremony is scheduled to take place on Friday, June 18 at 10 a.m. along the Franklin Street side of the Tampa Municipal Office Building (306 East Jackson Street). Supervisor approval is required to attend.

The flag will remain over City Hall throughout the weekend in commemoration of the end of slavery throughout the United States on June 19, 1865. Also known as Freedom Day and Emancipation Day, Juneteenth is celebrated annually throughout the nation.
