To keep the Tampa Bay community informed on important matters related to COVID-19, the City of Tampa has teamed up with USF Health for a new Instagram live series, called Medical Matters.
Airing Monday and Wednesday mornings on the City of Tampa’s Instagram account (@CityOfTampa), Medical Matters will invite esteemed USF Health healthcare providers to share their insights and expertise on COVID-19. Each segment will feature a Q&A session covering topics like COVID-10 symptoms, what to do if you feel ill, how to protect yourself and your loved ones, mental health coping strategies, information on infectious diseases, advice for flattening the curve, and other important subjects.
The first guest this Wednesday, April 22nd at 10am, will be Dr. Charles J. Lockwood, Senior Vice President of USF Health and the Dean of USF Health Morsani College of Medicine. Dr. Lockwood is a true leader and expert in the Tampa Bay medical community. In addition to his roles with USF, he has also served as an Executive Vice President at Tampa General Hospital since 2015.
“This partnership with the City of Tampa is a great opportunity for the citizens of Tampa Bay to stay informed by physicians from our area’s only Academic Health Center during the COVID-19 pandemic,” says Dr. Lockwood. “USF Health providers are actively working on the front-lines to keep citizens safe, and this collaboration provides another avenue for our experts to help serve the local community.”
USF Health is currently hosting daily Facebook Lives on its Facebook page to discuss medical topics with key experts. Similarly, the City of Tampa is also hosting daily Facebook Lives with Mayor Jane Castor and community partners to provide updates on COVID-19 matters affecting our community. By partnering to launch this new Instagram Live series, the City of Tampa and USF Health hope to reach a wider audience to keep the community informed.
“The COVID-19 crisis is ever-changing and we are learning new things every day. That’s why we want our residents to get the facts from the experts,” says Mayor Jane Castor. ”We’re maximizing all communication channels to reach our community and keep residents informed with the right information they need to protect themselves and possibly save a life. We are so humbled to help amplify the message of medical experts that are out on the frontlines working to flatten the curve of COVID-19 and keep our community safe”
The City of Tampa is thankful to USF Health for its partnership launching this new Instagram Live series and looks forward to welcoming Dr. Lockwood and several key experts.
Tune in for the first Medical Matters featuring Dr. Lockwood this Wednesday, April 22nd, at 10am, and every Monday and Wednesday going forward on the City of Tampa Instagram account.
