Brad L. Baird, P.E.
Brad Baird graduated in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Florida and is a registered Professional Engineer in Florida. Baird has dedicated his entire career to public service; he has worked for the City of Tampa for more than 37 years in various capacities.
He was Project Manager for over $250 million worth of wastewater, stormwater and reclaimed water capital improvements. He later served as Deputy Director for the Wastewater Department including overseeing an Optimization Program that saved the City over $20 million. Baird was the Director of the Water Department from 2006 to 2014 when he was promoted to the Public Works and Utility Services Administrator for the City. He served in this capacity until February 2020 when he was appointed as the Deputy Administrator over Infrastructure.
Baird ’s new role entails coordinating and directing three city departments: contract administration, water, and wastewater, as well as overseeing the transition from private to public operations of the McKay Bay Refuse-to-Energy Facility. Baird also serves as Chairman of the City’s Selection & Certification Committee for professional services selected under the CCNA process and will head up the City’s PIPES Program.
