Temporary Lane Closure Channelside Drive to begin June 21, 2021 for Road Construction

A portion of Channelside Drive between E Twiggs Street and E Cumberland Avenue will close beginning on Monday, June 21, 2021 for road construction.  A City of Tampa contractor will be resurfacing Channelside Drive between E Kennedy Boulevard and E Washington Street as part of the Channel District Community Redevelopment Area’s Transformative Complete Streets Project.  Construction project includes lane reductions from 4 lanes to 3 lanes, landscape medians, pedestrian safety improvements and other safety enhancements on Channelside Drive between E Cumberland and E Kennedy Boulevard.

Channelside Drive between E Kennedy Boulevard and E Cumberland Avenue and two (2) southbound lanes on Channelside Drive between E Twiggs Street and E Kennedy Boulevard will close at 8 pm on June 21, 2021.

The southbound left turn lane and right turn lane on Channelside Drive between E Twiggs Street and E Kennedy Boulevard will be maintained at all times during construction, with delays.

All lanes on Channelside Drive will be open to traffic by 5 am on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, weather permitting.

The entire construction project is scheduled to be completed in January of 2022.

The City recommends using alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.
