Temporary Lane Closure N Central Avenue to begin May 31st 2021 for Utility Construction

A portion of N Central Avenue between E Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and E Osborne Avenue will close daily from 9 am to 4 pm on Monday 31, 2021 for utility construction. A utility contractor will be installing a gas service line across N Central Avenue between E North Bay Street and E Genesee Street. The northbound lane on N Central Avenue between E North Bay Street and E Genesee Street will close beginning at 9 am on May 31, 2021.

Northbound and southbound traffic will be intermittently maintained on the west side of N Central Avenue between E North Bay Street and E Genesee Street at all times during construction, with delays.

Sidewalks in the construction area will be closed during the work. Pedestrians will be detoured to other available sidewalks in the area with signage.

All lanes on N Central Avenue between E North Bay Street and E Genesee Street will be open to traffic by 4 pm on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, weather permitting.

The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternate routes to avoid congestion.

Northbound and southbound motorists can use N Florida Avenue or N Nebraska Avenue between E Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and E Osborne Avenue, in lieu of N Central Avenue.
