Temporary Lane Closure N Himes Avenue to begin September 30, 2021 for Utility Construction

A portion of N Himes Avenue between W Hillsborough Avenue and W Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard will close daily from 9 am to 4 pm beginning on Thursday, September 30, 2021 for utility construction.  A utility contractor will be installing two (2) small wireless facilities and associated utilities on the west side of N Himes Avenue between W Osbourne Avenue and W Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard. One (1) southbound lane on N Himes Avenue between W Osbourne Avenue and W Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard will close at 9 am on September 30, 2021.

One (1) lane of southbound traffic will be maintained on N Himes Avenue between W Osbourne Avenue and W Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard at all times during construction, with delays.

Sidewalks in the work area will be closed during construction.  Pedestrians will be detoured to other available sidewalks with signage.

All lanes on N Himes Avenue between W Osbourne Avenue and W Dr Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard will reopen to traffic by 4 pm by Friday, October 29, 2021, weather permitting.

The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternate routes to avoid congestion. 

Southbound motorists can use N Habana Avenue or N Dale Mabry Highway between W Hillsborough Avenue and W Dr Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard, in lieu of N Himes Avenue. Southbound trucks can use N Armenia Avenue or N Dale Mabry Highway between W Hillsborough Avenue and W Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard, in lieu of N Himes Avenue.
