A portion of S Himes Avenue between W Euclid Avenue and W Gandy Boulevard will close daily from 9 am to 4 pm beginning on Monday, March 1, 2021 for sewer maintenance. A City of Tampa contractor will be cleaning and relining sewer lines at the intersection of S Himes Avenue and W Gandy Boulevard. In Phase 1, sewer lines will be cleaned. Phase 2 will be relining of the sewer lines.
During both phases, the southbound left turn only lane on S Himes Avenue between W Villa Rosa Street and W Gandy Boulevard will close. Phase 1 will begin at 9 am on March 1, 2021.
Southbound traffic will be maintained on the west side of S Himes between W Villa Rosa Street and W Gandy Boulevard at all times during construction, with delays.
All lanes on S Himes Avenue between W Villa Rosa Street and W Gandy Boulevard will be open by 4 pm on Friday, April 23, 2021, weather permitting.
Phase 2 will begin at a later date.
The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.
Southbound motorists can use S Dale Mabry Highway between W Euclid Avenue and W Gandy Boulevard, in lieu of S Himes Avenue.
