Temporary Lane Closure S Himes Avenue to begin May 28th 2021 for Utility Construction

A portion of S Himes Avenue between W Bay to Bay Boulevard and W El Prado Boulevard will close daily from 9 am to 4 pm beginning on Friday, May 28, 2021 for utility construction.  A utility contractor will be installing a small wireless facility and associated utilities on the west side of S Himes Avenue between W San Pedro Street and W Tacon Street. The southbound lane on S Himes Avenue between W San Pedro Street and W Tacon Street will close at 9 am on May 28, 2021.

Southbound and northbound traffic will be intermittently maintained on the east side of S Himes Avenue between W San Pedro Street and W Tacon Street at all times during construction, with delays.

Sidewalks in the work area will be closed during construction.  Pedestrians will be detoured to other available sidewalks with signage.

All lanes on S Himes Avenue between W San Pedro Street and W Tacon Street will reopen to traffic by 4 pm by Monday, June 28, 2021, weather permitting.

The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternate routes to avoid congestion. 

Southbound and northbound motorists can use S MacDill Avenue or S Dale Mabry Highway between W Bay to Bay Boulevard and W El Prado Boulevard, in lieu of S Himes Avenue.
