Temporary Lane Closure S Howard Avenue to begin September 13, 2021 for Utility Construction

A portion of S Howard Avenue between W Platt Street and W Cleveland Street will close daily from 9 am to 4 pm beginning on Monday, September 13, 2021 for utility construction.  A utility contractor will be installing communication conduit on the west side of S Howard Avenue between W Cleveland Street and W Kennedy Boulevard.

One (1) northbound lane on S Howard Avenue between W Platt Street and W Cleveland Street will close at 9 am beginning on September 13, 2021.

Two (2) northbound lanes on S Howard Avenue between W Platt Street and W Cleveland Street will be maintained at all times during construction, with delays.

Sidewalks within the work area will be closed during construction.  Pedestrian access will be maintained via signage to other sidewalks in the area at all times.

All lanes on S Howard Avenue between W Platt Street and W Cleveland Street will be open to traffic by 4 pm on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, weather permitting.

The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion. 

Northbound motorists can use S MacDill Avenue or S Willow Avenue between W Platt Street and W Cleveland Street, in lieu of S Howard Avenue.

Northbound trucks can use S MacDill Avenue between W Azeele Street and W Kennedy Boulevard or S Boulevard between W Platt Street and W Cleveland Street, in lieu of S Howard Avenue.
