Temporary Lane Closure on W Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to begin December 28, 2020 for Utility Construction

A portion of W Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between N Himes Avenue and N Lois Avenue will close daily from 9 am to 4 pm beginning on Monday, December 28, 2020 for utility construction. A utility contractor will be installing power conduit on the north side of W Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between N Dale Mabry Highway and N Church Avenue. One (1) westbound lane on W Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between N Himes Avenue and N Church Avenue will close at 9 am beginning on December 28, 2020.

One (1) westbound lane on W Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between N Himes Avenue and N Church Avenue will be maintained at all times during construction, with delays.

It is anticipated that all lanes on W Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between N Himes Avenue and N Church Avenue will reopen to traffic by 4 pm on Friday, January 22, 2021, weather permitting.

Sidewalks in the construction area will be closed during the construction. Pedestrians will be detoured to other available sidewalks with signage.

The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.

Westbound motorists can use W Tampa Bay Boulevard between N Himes Avenue and N Lois Avenue, in lieu of W Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Westbound trucks can use W Hillsborough Avenue between N Himes Avenue and N Lois Avenue, in lieu of W Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
