Temporary Lane Closures of Channelside Drive and Beneficial Drive/S Meridian Avenue to begin March 2, 2022 for Signal Construction

A portion of Channelside Drive between E Cumberland Avenue and Beneficial Drive/S Meridian Avenue and a portion of Beneficial Drive/S Meridian Avenue between Knights Run Avenue and E Cumberland Avenue will close beginning on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 for signal construction. A City contractor will complete signal work and remove the old signal pole and mast arms on the northeast and southeast corners at the intersection of Channelside Drive and Beneficial Drive/S Meridian Avenue. The work will be completed in two (2) phases.

During Phase 1, the contractor will be working on the NE corner of Channelside Drive and S Meridian Avenue. One (1) northbound lane on Beneficial Drive/S Meridian Avenue between Knights Run Avenue and E Cumberland Avenue and one (1) westbound lane on Channelside Drive between S 12th Street and Beneficial Drive/S Meridian Avenue will close at 9 am on March 2, 2022. One (1) northbound thru lane on Beneficial Drive/S Meridian Avenue between Knights Run Avenue and E Cumberland Avenue will be maintained at all times, with delays.

All lanes on Beneficial Drive/S Meridian Avenue and Channelside Drive will reopen to traffic by 4 pm on Friday, March 4, 2022, weather permitting.

During Phase 2, the contractor will be working on the SE corner of Channelside Drive and Beneficial Drive. One (1) northbound lane on Beneficial Drive between Knights Run Avenue and Channelside Drive will close at 9 am on Monday, March 7, 2022. One (1) northbound thru lane and one (1) left turn lane on Beneficial Drive between Knights Run Avenue and Channelside Drive will be maintained at all times, with delays.

All lanes on Beneficial Drive between Knights Run Avenue and Channelside Drive will reopen to traffic by 4 pm on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, weather permitting.

The contractor will be removing the old pole and mast arms and repair the sidewalks on the NE corner and SE corner after the completion of the phase 2 work. There will be intermittent lane closures on Channelside Drive between Beneficial Drive/S Meridian Avenue and 12th Street for the removal of the old mast arms.

The entire signal project is expected to be completed by Friday, April 15, 2022, weather permitting.

The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternate routes to avoid congestion.
