A portion of Channelside Drive between E Cumberland Avenue and E Twiggs Street will close beginning on Monday, February 15, 2021 for road construction. A City of Tampa contractor will be performing roadway improvements as part of the Channel District Community Redevelopment Area’s Transformative Complete Streets Project. Construction will include lane reductions from 4 lanes to 3 lanes, landscape medians, pedestrian safety improvements and other safety enhancements on Channelside Drive between E Whiting Street and E Kennedy Boulevard.
One (1) northbound lane and one (1) southbound lane on Channelside Drive between E Whiting Street and E Kennedy Boulevard will close at 9 am on February 15, 2021.
One (1) northbound lane and one (1) southbound lane on Channelside Drive between E Whiting Street and E Kennedy Boulevard will be maintained at all times during construction, with delays.
Sidewalks within the work area will be closed during construction. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times via signage to other sidewalks in the area.
All lanes on Channelside Drive will be open to traffic by 4 pm on Friday, April 16, 2021, weather permitting.
The City recommends using alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.
