A portion of N Florida Avenue between E Jackson Street and E Kennedy Boulevard will close beginning on Friday, February 26, 2021 for building construction and road maintenance. A private contractor will stage a crane and installing pavement markings on N Florida Avenue between E Jackson Street and E Kennedy Boulevard for the new Hyatt hotel. The work will be completed at night in two phases.
During Phase 1, the contractor will stage a crane in the eastern most lane of N Florida Avenue between E Jackson Street and E Kennedy Boulevard to remove materials from the roof of the Hyatt hotel. One (1) lane on N Florida Avenue between E Jackson Street and E Kennedy Boulevard will close at 7 pm on February 26, 2021.
Two (2) northbound lanes will be maintained at all times during construction, with delays.
Sidewalk on the east side of N Florida Avenue between E Jackson Street and E Kennedy Boulevard will be closed during Phase 1 construction. Pedestrians will be detoured to other available sidewalks in the area with signage.
All lanes on N Florida Avenue will reopen to traffic by 5 am on Saturday, February 27, 2021.
Phase 2 construction is scheduled to begin on Sunday, March 7, 2021 and will be completed over two (2) consecutive nights from 8 pm to 5 am the following morning. During Phase 2, the contractor will install final pavement markings on N Florida Avenue between E Jackson Street and E Kennedy Boulevard. One (1) northbound lane will close on N Florida Avenue between E Jackson Street and E Kennedy Boulevard at 8 pm on March 7, 2021 and will reopen to traffic by 5 am on Monday, March 8, 2021.
Two (2) northbound lanes will be maintained at all times during construction, with delays.
All lanes on N Florida Avenue between E Jackson Street and E Kennedy Boulevard will reopen to traffic by 5 am on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, weather permitting.
The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.
Northbound motorists can use N Morgan Street between E Jackson Street and E Kennedy Boulevard in lieu of N Florida Avenue.
