Temporary Lane Closures on N Howard Avenue to begin September 13, 2021 for Utility Construction

A portion of N Howard Avenue between W Platt Street/W Cleveland Street and W Cass Street will close beginning on Monday, September 13, 2021 for utility construction. A City of Tampa contractor will be installing new water mains across N Howard Avenue at W Gray Street. One (1) northbound lane on N Howard Avenue between W Cleveland Street and W North A Street and two (2) northbound lanes on N Howard Avenue between W North A Street and W Carmen Street will close at 9 am on September 13, 2021.

Two (2) northbound lanes on N Howard Avenue between W Cleveland Street and W North A Street and one (1) northbound lane on N Howard Avenue between W North A Street and W Carmen Street will be  maintained at all times during construction, with delays.

Sidewalks in the work area will be closed during construction.  Pedestrians will be detoured to other available sidewalks with signage.

All lanes on N Howard Avenue between W Cleveland Street and W Carmen Street will be open to traffic by 4 pm on Friday, October 1, 2021, weather permitting.

The City of Tampa recommends using alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion.

Northbound motorists can use Willow Avenue between W Platt Street/W Cleveland Street and W Cass Street or use MacDill Avenue between W Azeele Street and W Cypress Street, in lieu of N Howard Avenue.

Northbound trucks can use N Boulevard between W Platt Street/W Cleveland Street and W Cass Street or use MacDill Avenue between W Azeele Street and W Cypress Street, in lieu of N Howard Avenue.
