Temporary Lane Closures on S Florida Avenue and Channelside Drive to begin January 10, 2022 for Utility Construction

A portion of S Florida Avenue between Water Street (formerly Old Water Street) and E Brorein Street and Channelside Drive between Bayshore Boulevard and S Morgan Street will close nightly from 8 pm to 6 am beginning on Monday, January 10, 2022 for utility construction.  A private contractor will install communication lines across S Florida Avenue between Channelside Drive and E Brorein Street.

One (1) northbound lane on S Florida Avenue between Water Street and E Brorein Street and one (1) eastbound/left turn lane on Channelside Drive between S Franklin Street and S Florida Avenue will close at 8 pm on January 10, 2022. 

One (1) northbound lane on S Florida Avenue between Water Street and E Brorein Street and one (1) left turn lane on Channelside Drive between S Franklin Street and S Florida Avenue will be maintained at all times during construction, with delays.

No construction will be performed on nights when there are events at the Amalie Arena.

Sidewalks within the work area will be closed during the construction.  Pedestrians will be detoured to other available sidewalks in the area with signage.

All lanes on S Florida Avenue between Water Street and E Brorein Street and on Channelside Drive between Bayshore Boulevard and S Morgan Street will be open to traffic by 6 am on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, weather permitting.

The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.
