Temporary Lane Closures on S MacDill Avenue to begin February 22, 2021 for Utility Construction

A portion of S MacDill Avenue between W Bay to Bay Boulevard and W El Prado Boulevard will close daily from 9 am to 4 pm beginning on February 22, 2021 for utility construction. A private contractor will be installing a gas main in S MacDill Avenue between W Mason Street and W Julia Street as part of the Bayshore Beautiful TECO Peoples Gas project.

The southbound and northbound lanes on S MacDill Avenue between W Santiago Street and W El Prado Boulevard will close intermittently at 9 am beginning on February 22, 2021.

Southbound and northbound traffic will be intermittently maintained on S MacDill Avenue between W Santiago Street and W El Prado Boulevard at all times during construction, with delays.

The sidewalk within the construction area will be closed. Pedestrian access will be maintained via signage to other sidewalks in the area during construction.

It is anticipated that all lanes on S MacDill Avenue between W Santiago Street and W El Prado Boulevard will open to traffic by 4 pm on Saturday, May 22, 2021, weather permitting.

The City of Tampa recommends that motorist use alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.

Southbound and northbound motorists can use S Himes Avenue or Bayshore Boulevard between W Bay to Bay Boulevard and W El Prado Boulevard, in lieu of S MacDill Avenue.

Southbound and northbound trucks should use S Dale Mabry Highway between W Bay to Bay Boulevard and W Gandy Boulevard, in lieu of S MacDill Avenue.
