Temporary Lane Closures on S West Shore Boulevard to begin June 6, 2022 for Road Maintenance

A portion of S West Shore Boulevard between W Gandy Boulevard and W Kennedy Boulevard will close beginning Monday, June 6, 2022 for road maintenance. A City of Tampa contractor will mill and resurface the northbound lane of S West Shore Boulevard between W Flamingo Road and W Cleveland Street as part of the final phase of the South Westshore Boulevard Water Main Replacement II project. The milling and resurfacing work will be completed in seven (7) phases over three (3) weeks, weather permitting.

Phase 1

  • The northbound lane on S West Shore Boulevard between W Flamingo Rd and W El Prado Boulevard will close at 7 am on Monday, June 6, 2022. Northbound traffic will be detoured to S Manhattan Avenue between W Gandy Boulevard and W El Prado Boulevard. Southbound traffic on S West Shore Boulevard will be maintained during construction, with delays. Phase 2 will begin immediately upon the completion of the Phase 1 work.

Phase 2

  • The northbound lane on S West Shore Boulevard between W El Prado Boulevard and W Bay to Bay Boulevard is anticipated to be closed at 7 am on Wednesday, June 8, 2022. Northbound traffic will be detoured to S Manhattan Avenue between W Euclid Avenue and W Bay to Bay Boulevard. Southbound traffic on S West Shore Boulevard will be maintained during construction, with delays.
  • The milling and resurfacing of the northbound lane on S West Shore Boulevard between W Bay to Bay Boulevard and W Cleveland Street will be broken into five (5) separate phases and will begin immediately upon the completion of the Phase 2 work.

Phase 3

  • S West Shore Boulevard between N Dundee Street and W San Miguel Street is anticipated to be milled and resurfaced from June 10 – 14, 2022. Northbound traffic will be detoured to S Lois Avenue between W Bay to Bay Boulevard and W Kennedy Boulevard. Southbound traffic on S West Shore Boulevard will be maintained during construction, with delays.

Phase 4

  • S West Shore Boulevard between W San Miguel Street and W Neptune Street is anticipated to be milled and resurfaced from June 14 – 16, 2022. Northbound traffic will be detoured to S Lois Avenue between
  • W Bay to Bay Boulevard and W Kennedy Boulevard. Southbound traffic on S West Shore Boulevard will be maintained during construction, with delays.

Phase 5

  • S West Shore Boulevard between W Neptune Street and W Beachway Drive is anticipated to be milled and resurfaced from June 16 – 20, 2022. Northbound traffic will be detoured to S Lois Avenue between W Bay to Bay Boulevard and W Kennedy Boulevard. Southbound traffic on S West Shore Boulevard will be maintained during construction, with delays.

Phase 6

  • S West Shore Boulevard between W Beachway Drive and W Beach Park Drive is anticipated to be milled and resurfaced from June 20 – 22, 2022. Northbound traffic will be detoured to S Lois Avenue between W Bay to Bay Boulevard and W Kennedy Boulevard. Southbound traffic on S West Shore Boulevard will be maintained during construction, with delays.

Phase 7

  • The final phase will involve closure of the northbound lane on S West Shore Boulevard between W Beach Park Drive and W Cleveland Street. Northbound and southbound traffic will be intermittently maintained on the west side of S West Shore Boulevard between W Beach Park Drive and W Cleveland Street, with delays.
  • All lanes on S West Shore Boulevard between W Gandy Boulevard and W Kennedy Boulevard is scheduled to open to traffic by 7 pm on Friday, June 24, 2022, weather permitting.
  • The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.
