Temporary Lane Closures on Water Street (formerly Old Water Street) to begin March 22, 2021 for Utility Construction

A portion of Water Street (formerly Old Water Street) between Channelside Drive and S Morgan Street will close daily from 9 am to 4 pm beginning on Monday, March 22, 2021 for utility construction. A utility contractor will be installing power to a small wireless facility on Water Street between Channelside Drive and S Morgan Street in three (3) phases. Phase 2 and 3 will require lane closures.

During phase 2, the southbound lane on Water Street between Channelside Drive and S Morgan Street will close at 9 am beginning on March 22, 2021.

Southbound traffic will be shifted into the northbound left turn lane and center median on Water Street between Channelside Drive and S Morgan Street.

During phase 3, one (1) northbound lane on Water Street between S Morgan Street and the Tampa Bay History Center will close at 9 am on a later date.

One (1) northbound lane on Water Street between S Morgan Street and the Tampa Bay History Center will be maintained at all times during construction, with delays.

Sidewalks in the construction area will be closed during the construction. Pedestrians will be detoured to other available sidewalks with signage.

All lanes on Water Street between S Morgan Street and Channelside Drive will open to traffic by 4 pm on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, weather permitting.

The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.
