Passport check, sunglasses check, time to pack your bags for the City of Tampa!

Tampa is no stranger to visitors. Each year, our facility alone attracts thousands of convention-goers from around the world to our city. And, thanks to our central location, these visitors have prime access to some of the top hotels and attractions in Tampa’s Downtown.

Today, Tampa’s booming tourism industry was celebrated as part of National Travel and Tourism Week. Several tourist attractions have been recognized thus far, including our neighbors The Florida Aquarium—who just won a spot amongst the top 3 best aquariums according to USA Today’s 10Best, Amalie Arena—home to the Tampa Bay Lightning who just advanced to the NHL Eastern Conference finals, and other attractions like the Tampa Bay History Center, ZooTampa, and Busch Gardens.

In addition to exciting attractions, Tampa is also home to the award-winning Tampa International Airport and the thriving Port of Tampa, which serves several international cruise lines. These travel organizations make it easy to travel to our city from around the world; and, upon arrival, visitors can stay at one of several state of the art hotels.

Just next door, the Water Street Tampa Project recently broke ground on the newest luxury hotel coming to our city, the JW Marriott. This hotel will offer world-class lodging for Convention Center visitors, as part of a large redevelopment project in Channelside.

At the forefront of Tampa’s tourism scene, is the Visit Tampa Bay organization. As one of biggest supports, Visit Tampa Bay helps us draw national and international convention to our facility each year along with countless visitors. Today, Visit Tampa Bay declared May 8th Tampa Tourism Day and unveiled a new monument that will stand in Poe Plaza.

At the Tampa Convention Center, we are grateful to welcome visitors from across the globe to our facility. We are proud to partner with organizations like Visit Tampa Bay to stimulate the travel and tourism industry as well as the local economy.

If you are planning to visit Tampa for a convention center event, we encourage you to visit the Visit Tampa Bay website at for information on places to go, things to do, and where to stay.
