Manhattan Ave Improvements (Richardson Ave to Interbay Blvd)

Project Overview

The 0.5-mile segment of Manhattan Ave from Richardson Ave to Interbay Blvd is a 2-lane local, residential roadway with a posted speed of 20 mph and neighbors the MacDill Air Force Base. Manhattan Ave is a north/south roadway running parallel to West Shore Blvd and provides an alternate north-south traffic circulation route for the Port Tampa area. The project would tie into the existing extension of Richardson Ave. This project was awarded a 2020 Defense Infrastructure Grant (DIG) in the amount of $340,000.

The improvements include:

  • Reconstruct southern segment (1,000 LF) of unimproved roadway with a 10-ft trail on the west side
  • Mill and resurface northern segment (1,750 LF) with curb & gutter with a sidewalk on the east side
  • Share the road bicycle pavement markings and signs
  • Intersection improvements at Interbay Blvd including the addition of a southbound left-turn lane and an eastbound left-turn lane.
