Purpose:
The Palmetto Beach Coastal Area Action Plan, funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD): Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), provides neighborhood-specific recommendations and actions to help mitigate the effects of storms and flooding. Neighborhood resilience enables a community’s ability to withstand, adapt to, and recover from adverse events, such as natural disasters, economic challenges, and social disruptions. Allowing for a holistic approach through community organizations and local government helps play key roles in emergency preparedness, infrastructure improvements, and policies promoting economic stability and sustainable growth.
