
The Tampa City Council is a legislative branch of City Government and operates in accordance with the provisions of the 1974 Revised Charter of the City of Tampa. The City Council is responsible for enacting ordinances and resolutions that the Mayor of Tampa administers as chief executive officer.

As of January 28, 2021, the Tampa City Council meetings will be held in Old City Hall, 315 E. Kennedy Blvd., Tampa, FL 33602. A quorum of City Council members will be present in City Council Chambers for the public hearing; however, IN RESPONSE TO THE COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS, THE CITY OF TAMPA IS MAKING IT POSSIBLE FOR APPLICANTS AND INTERESTED MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PUBLIC HEARING BY MEANS OF COMMUNICATIONS MEDIA TECHNOLOGY OR IN PERSON. Applicants and interested members of the public are encouraged to participate “virtually” through video teleconferencing, referred to by Florida Statutes and rules as “communications media technology” (“CMT”). While virtual participation is encouraged, in-person participation is available. The format and procedures for in-person participation may differ from a traditional hearing. Those individuals who wish to participate in person or who do not have access to or are otherwise unable to participate via CMT, may utilize the CMT facilities that will be made available to the public at Old City Hall, 2nd Floor, 315 E. Kennedy Blvd, Tampa FL 33602.
