The Greater Tampa Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated hosts its fifth annual Tutus & Tennis Shoes: Elevating ALL Children 5K Run/Walk, Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 7:45 a.m. at Perry Harvey Sr. Park, 1000 E. Harrison Street, Tampa, FL 33602. This health and wellness event includes a scenic 5K route in historic downtown Tampa, a Children’s Fun Run, and a free Community Health Fair. All participants will receive a race T-shirt and Finisher’s Medal.

The Tutus and Tennis Shoes Community Health Fair is an integral part of the event and is intended to provide attendees with resources to support healthy living. Healthcare facilitators will relay the importance of good health and overall wellness. Providers will be on site to perform health screenings and there will be an opportunity to impact our community by donating blood for those in need. This year, there will also be a special Black History celebration that pays homage to the culture and heritage with special performances that include music, dance, and spoken word.

“Each year is better than the previous year. Greater Tampa Chapter is thrilled to host our signature fundraising event for the 5th year in the heart of Tampa at Perry Harvey, Sr. Park. Thanks to our loyal community partners, sponsors, donors, and race participants, this year is shaping to be the best year yet,” said Chapter President Tammie Pickett McFarland.

Last year’s event netted more than $30,000 for charity and was split between the following non-profit organizations: Jack and Jill of America Foundation, Aaron’s House, Children's Cancer Center, Miracles Outreach, ReachUp, Mercy Ministries, Boys & Girls Club of Tampa Bay, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, and Joshua's Way of Hope. A portion of proceeds from this year’s race will benefit the Jack and Jill of America Foundation, the national organization’s philanthropic arm, which provides donations to national non-profit partners and awards grants to its chapters across the nation. The remaining funds will be donated to the following Tampa-based charities that serve children and families: Friends of the Children – Tampa Bay, Gentlemen’s Quest of Tampa, Inc., and Joshua Way of Hope, Inc.

The public is invited to join this wholesome community event and support the Greater Tampa Chapter’s efforts to raise money for charity. The Tutus & Tennis Shoes 5K Run/Walk and Health Fair will bring families, athletes of all abilities, and the community together. Nearly four hundred people registered for the event last year, ranging from children to older adults.
