This Fourth of July celebration will feature family-friendly activities, live entertainment, and SIX firework displays along Tampa's downtown waterfront. PLUS, new this year - enjoy the Friends of the Riverwalk July 4th Boat Parade and Blessing of the Fleet from 5-7pm along the Tampa Riverwalk!

VZN Band at the Straz Center

Riverwalk Stage  •   5PM – 9PM
In the hours leading up the night’s fireworks displays, VZN will delight attendees with a FREE performance from their pop, Motown, country, soul, rock, disco, Latin and reggae repertoire. Located adjacent to the Riverwalk Stage and fashioned inside a retrofitted 1966 Airstream Safari Land Yacht, SIP will be open offering cocktails, local craft brews and other beverages beginning at 11 a.m. Food and other concessions will be available at the Straz Center’s Maestro’s On the River beginning at 5 p.m. Details can be found on the Straz Center website.

Friends of the Riverwalk July 4th Boat Parade

From 5 – 7PM, the Friends of the Riverwalk will celebrate July 4th with an inaugural July 4th Boat Parade and Blessing of the Fleet. The parade route will be similar to the holiday light boat parade, plus three blessing stations. (The Blessing of the Fleet is a tradition that began years ago but is still practiced in many fishing and boating communities around the world to ensure a safe and bountiful season.) The parade begins in the Convention Center basin, travels to the Heights, and ends at Sparkman Wharf.  Public viewing locations include:

  • Davis Island
  • Harbour Island
  • Sparkman Wharf
  • Water Works Park

Transportation

All City garages will be available, along with street parking and private lot options. City of Tampa parking garages (including Fort Brooke garage) will cost $10 for the day. However, we strongly encourage everyone to use rideshare and public transit options. View the City of Tampa Interactive Parking Map.

Attendees can also park in Ybor City and take the TECO Streetcar into downtown.

Accessible parking is available at all public parking facilities and on the south side of Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park.

Traffic is expected to be heavier than normal in and around Downtown Tampa due to the event taking place at multiple locations. Barricades and signs will be located to assist with traffic flow. Please use caution when driving in the area. See the road closure schedule.

Hillsborough Area Regional Transit (HART) will offer a FREE Shuttle Service for Boom by the Bay on July 4, 2021 from 3PM to 11PM, every 15 minutes.  The two free shuttle routes (North Fireworks & South Fireworks) will operate around Tampa’s Downtown, connected to both the TECO Line Streetcar System and the Marion Transit Center.  See the HART Shuttle Service MapLearn more about HART services.

If you choose to ride your bike to the event, a FREE bike valet will be available at the Bayshore Boulevard, Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, and Julian B. Riverfront Park locations.

Hillsborough Area Regional Transit (HART) will offer extended hours for Boom by the Bay on July 4, 2021 from 7AM to 12AM. Boom by the Bay is a community event featuring fireworks in various locations along the Downtown Tampa Waterfront accompanied by a variety of entertainment and activities. We are working with our community partners to create a unique Independence Day celebration for residents of all ages to enjoy.

The event will take place on Sunday, July 4, 2021. The event kicks off with a Friends of the Riverwalk July 4th Boat Parade & Blessing of the Fleet from 5:00pm - 7:00pm along The Tampa Riverwalk. Following the Boat Parade, activities will begin at 7:00pm depending on location, and last until the completion of the fireworks. The fireworks are scheduled to start at dusk (approximately 9:15pm), weather permitting, and will last 20 minutes.

All fireworks will be shot from barges along the downtown waterfront in the following areas:

  • Armature Works
  • Tampa Convention Center
  • Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park
  • Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park
  • Sparkman Wharf
  • Bayshore Boulevard (near Davis Island Bridge)

All sites will have the same length of show, but there will be some differences in the size of some of the shells due to safety distances.

There are multiple ways to get to Tampa’s Downtown:

For those driving to the event, please note parking may be limited at certain locations. You can prepay for parking at City of Tampa lots through ParkMobile.

Event-goers are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines for COVID-19 safety and take advantage of sanitation stations located throughout each location.

The fireworks are free to attend, but charges will be applicable for any food or drink.

You are welcome to bring food and soft drinks to the Riverwalk and Parks. Please do not bring alcohol. Adult beverages are available from businesses and at Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park. The Riverwalk cup program allows for people to consume them while they enjoy the Riverwalk and adjoining areas. Grilling and other cooking is prohibited.

Please remember that the fireworks will be loud and may not be a good environment for your four-legged friends. Well-behaved pets that are kept on a leash are welcome on the Riverwalk and in the parks. Service animals are always welcome. 

Chairs and blankets will be allowed, as well as small coolers. Large umbrellas or tents will not be permitted. For security, all items are subject to search, and please don’t leave your belongings unattended.

For the safety and comfort of other attendees please do not bring your own fireworks, including sparklers. All fireworks are prohibited in City parks and on the Tampa Riverwalk.

The fireworks are being paid for through the generous support of community partners who recognize that the community desires and deserves to have an impressive Independence Day celebration.

See Something, Say Something! If it is a public safety issue or something suspicious, please let a nearby police officer know, or call 911. For other issues, please let any of our onsite staff know. 

We are pleased to offer a Sensory Zone at two locations:  Julian B. Lane Waterfront Park in the south area near the pavilions and Curtis Hixon Riverfront Park adjacent to the Glazer Children’s Museum.  These zones are offered by the City’s Autism Friendly Tampa, CARD-USF, WEDU PBS, Glazer Children’s Museum, Breakthrough Behavior and the Mayor’s Alliance for Persons with Disabilities.

Boaters should be aware of the following restrictions and cautions:

 

Boating Advisory for All Locations & Map

  1. No mooring at Water Works Park and Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park docks from 11am - 10pm
  2. No mooring at Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park docks on July 3rd or 4th
  3. No Boating Access between Boulevard Bridge and Kennedy Bridge from 7pm – 10pm
  4. Be cautious of firework fallout. Boats must always remain outside of designated safety zones.
  5. Best viewing areas for boats/vessels are in the vicinities of the open water displays at the Tampa Convention Center, the Ybor Turning Basin, and North Bayshore Boulevard. See map for shooting locations.

  1. Best viewing areas for boats/vessels are in the vicinities of the Tampa Convention Center, Ybor Turning Basin, or Bayshore. See map for fireworks shoot locations.
  2. No vessel movement allowed between 7:30pm until 30 minutes after the last fireworks launch. Wait for the all-clear to move issued by the dock master.
  3. No vessel movement allowed during any rain delay period.
  4. Expect heavy smoke and possibly damaging fireworks fallout.
  5. Boats must always remain outside of designated safety zones.
  6. Do not exceed posted vessel occupant capacity.
  7. Obey all boating laws and obey all marina rules.
  8. No mooring at Water Works or Curtis Hixon docks from 11am – 10pm
