Purpose:

he City of Tampa’s urban forest plays a significant role in maintaining the health and vitality of urban life. It provides a wealth of benefits to neighborhoods and residents through reduced energy consumption, the removal of pollutants from the air and water, reduced stormwater flows, and recreational opportunities and aesthetic diversity. Developed with a variety of stakeholders, this strategic plan provides a 20-year planning horizon to address the numerous challenges of growing and maintaining a healthy urban forest in an efficient manner and to provide guidance on city planning work

Key Findings:

The City of Tampa’s Urban Forest Management Plan was developed to provide a 20-year planning horizon to help monitor and implement the plan. One of the biggest implementation measures was the creation of the Natural Resources Advisory Committee, which assists in making recommendations as part of the adaptive management strategy for implementing the Urban Forestry Management Plan.
