Facility Management Division
The Facility Management Division provides safe, efficient, and well-maintained facilities that support employees, residents, visitors, and the broader community. The division oversees the planning, operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of most City-owned facilities, ensuring they remain operational, resilient, and aligned with organizational priorities. Each year, the division manages more than 23,150 work orders across over 700 facilities citywide, encompassing approximately 7.8 million square feet of space. The division is staffed by 72 dedicated employees and operates with an annual budget of $28.2 million.
Core responsibilities include building operations and maintenance, preventive maintenance programs, custodial services, space planning, facility renovations and improvements, and operational support. Through strategic asset management and proactive maintenance practices, the division works to maximize the lifespan of City facilities, optimize operating costs, and create safe environments that support productivity, collaboration, and effective service delivery.
Working closely with City departments and external partners, the division emphasizes responsive customer service, sustainability, operational excellence, and the timely delivery of projects. From routine maintenance and emergency repairs to large-scale renovations and capital improvements, the team is committed to ensuring City facilities remain safe, reliable, and adaptable to the evolving needs of the organization and community.
In addition to overseeing daily facility operations, the division manages construction and renovation projects through its JOC Multi-Services Program, delivering efficient, cost-effective, and community-focused solutions through Job Order Contracting (JOC). The program streamlines procurement, accelerates project delivery, and maintains strong fiscal oversight while fostering long-term partnerships with contractors and City departments.
More than simply delivering projects, the division is committed to building lasting relationships, creating opportunities, and earning trust. By actively engaging small, local, and diverse businesses, the JOC Program strengthens the communities it serves and ensures that project investments advance both operational priorities and local economic growth.
