Neighborhood Enhancement

Mission:

The mission of the Neighborhood Enhancement Division is to promote and maintain a safe living and working environment by ensuring the health, safety and welfare codes are enforced equally and fairly throughout the City of Tampa; to strive for code compliance by working with the residents in an effort to keep our neighborhoods well maintained and thriving.

By combining code enforcement with property maintenance services, we are dedicated to improving quality of life concerns. Through abatements and other corrective measures that improve blighted conditions, our quick responses ensure effective and efficient enforcement of codes that address property maintenance, structural standards, zoning and land-use issues.

Tampa’s strength lies in the strength of its neighborhoods; representing many styles and cultures, we work towards providing a safe environment, and excellent quality of life, for all residents.

Goals and Objectives:

Our goal is to improve the quality of life in every neighborhood through education, fair enforcement, and effective abatement efforts, while focusing on ways to strengthen the communities and keep them thriving. Our objective is to ensure timely and effective code enforcement efforts that promote voluntary compliance.

We explore ways to create opportunities for dialogue, information sharing, partnership and action between government, neighborhood residents and leaders; to foster greater neighborhood partnerships and communications with city departments and agencies to promote positive outcomes, ultimately helping to improve quality of life.

Vision:

The Neighborhood Enhancement Division directly supports the city’s vision for strong neighborhoods; focusing on what matters to Tampa’s citizens and treating every street as if we lived there. Our vision is to be recognized as a model clean city dedicated to safety and cleanliness through enforcement, education, public awareness campaigns, and public and private partnerships; creating an environment in which neighborhoods and city government proactively work together, on a consistent basis, to equitably address all aspects of public life to ensure the best possible solutions for all.
