The Tampa General Hospital Heritage Archive

The Library Services team at Tampa General Hospital is building a heritage archives program from the ground up — led by librarians having no prior archival infrastructure in place — to capture nearly a century of institutional history. From organizing an archival governance council made up of long-term employees, physicians and hospital leaders to developing collection workflows and gathering submissions, this project showcases how library professionals can champion archival preservation, turning scattered institutional memory into a lasting, accessible record of medical milestones, community impact, and organizational identity.
