Land Development Code Amendments

The City of Tampa Land Development Code, largely contained within Chapter 27 of the Code of Ordinances, implements the Future Land Use Map, Categories, and associated Goals, Objectives and Policies in the City of Tampa Comprehensive Plan.  

January 2023 Amendment Cycle: 

There are ten (10) amendments proposed as part of the January 2023 Cycle. These amendments were presented in concept to Tampa City Council on March 2, 2023. City Council directed staff to hold public information meetings to discuss the amendments and bring back final language at a future City Council workshop in the Spring.

General Timeline for January 2023 Amendment Cycle: 
  • City Council Workshop on Conceptual Amendments (without draft text) – March 2, 2023
  • Public Information Meeting(s) on Proposed Amendments – March 20, 21, and 22, 2023.
  • Final Text Amendment Language Finalized & Submitted to City Council – April 2023 (tentative)
  • Planning Commission Briefing on Proposed Text Amendments – June 2023 (tentative)
  • Planning Commission Public Hearing on Proposed Text Amendments – July 2023 (tentative)
  • City Council First Reading – July 2023 (tentative)
  • City Council Second Reading – August 2023 (tentative)
