Posted Date

A portion of N McKinley Drive between E Fowler Avenue and E Bougainvillea Avenue will close nightly beginning on Monday, November 7, 2022, for building construction.  A private contractor will erect an overhead pedestrian bridge connecting the existing Moffitt Cancer Center to the new Moffitt Expansion Hospital on N McKinley Drive south of the Moffitt Cancer Center signalized driveway.

The final phase of construction work will begin November 7, 2022.  The contractor will complete the exterior bridge enclosure work.  Either the northbound lanes or the southbound lanes on N McKinley Drive between Moffitt Cancer Center signalized driveway and E Bougainvillea Avenue will close nightly from 7 pm to 5 am the following day beginning November 7, 2022.

The sidewalk within the work areas will be closed during construction.  Pedestrians will be detoured to other sidewalks in the area with signage.

All lanes on N McKinley Drive between Moffitt Cancer Center signalized driveway and E Bougainvillea Avenue are scheduled to reopen to traffic by 5 am on Friday, December 9, 2022, weather permitting.

The pedestrian bridge is scheduled to be open by Wednesday, April 26, 2023.

The City recommends using alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion.

Northbound and southbound motorists can use N 30th Street between E Bougainvillea Avenue and E Fowler Avenue, in lieu of N McKinley Drive.

Northbound and southbound trucks should use N 30th Street or N 56th Street between E Busch Boulevard and E Fowler Avenue, in lieu of N McKinley Drive.
