Deputy Chief Calvin Johnson has served in all three districts since beginning his career with Tampa Police Department in 1999. His experience includes roles as a Sector Commander in all three patrol districts, Shift Commander and Field Training Officer Program Coordinator in District 3, Patrol Supervisor in District 1 and District 3, Supervisor of the Rapid Offender Control (ROC) Squad in District 1, five years as a Robbery detective in the Criminal Investigative Division, and five years as a patrol officer.

Deputy Chief Johnson is a United States Army Veteran who served in Desert Shield / Desert Storm, a graduate of the 265th FBI National Academy, a graduate of FBI-LEEDA Executive Leadership Institute (ELI), and a graduate of the IACP Leadership in Police Organization. He holds a Master of Arts in Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from the University of South Florida.

As Deputy Chief of Community Outreach & Professional Standards, he will exercise direct control and supervision of the Special Operations Division, Professional Standards Bureau, Communications Bureau, and all departmental Community Outreach initiatives. The Deputy Chief of Community Outreach & Professional Standards will directly oversee the department’s commitment to working in partnership with the residents we serve, in a manner that demonstrates without a doubt that every action by a member of the department is in keeping with the highest standards of public service.
