Child Safety Seat Program

Child Seat Install

The Tampa Police Department has certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPST’s) who can provide and/or install child safety seats to citizens in need.

Child safety seats are provided on a “first come, first served” basis and are only available monthly while the supply of child safety seats remain in stock. Those who cannot immediately receive a child safety seat will be placed on a waiting list and contacted upon availability.

Note: Only rear facing/forward facing convertible child safety seats will be provided (no booster seats will be available).

To qualify for a child safety seat, you must be a City of Tampa resident and demonstrate a financial need (examples: tax return showing within US Department of Health & Human Services poverty level guidelines and listing child as dependent, or, proof of enrollment with DCF Access Florida, with child listed at the same address on the benefits document).

If you already have a child safety seat and would like instruction on how to install it, appointments can be made for our Child Passenger Safety Technicians to provide caregiver(s) with guidance on child safety seat information and proper installation.

To take part in the Child Safety Seat Program, request an appointment online or by calling our District Two office at 813.931.6500.
