TAMPA, Fla. (Saturday, July 23, 2022) - On July 22 2022, at 4:42 A.M., units were dispatched to the 8109 N. 17th Street in reference to the caller advising he and his roommate got into a physical altercation and the roommate had been shot.
Upon arrival, officers observed the deceased sitting on a couch, within the garage, with an apparent gunshot wound. The caller/roommate, Kennith Phillips (D.O.B. 07/18/68), was located inside of the residence and complied with officers on-scene to exit the home. He was detained and homicide detectives responded to investigate.
A search warrant was conducted on the residence. After a review of all the evidence, the suspect, Phillips, was charged with 2nd Degree Murder. He was arrested by the Tampa Police Department and taken to Orient Road Jail. The investigation is ongoing.
