In advance of what is expected become Hurricane Helene, preparations are underway at the City of Tampa to ensure its services and infrastructure is ready for the severe weather and its impacts.
Stormwater crews are aggressively working to ensure the drainage systems are clear of debris and functioning at their maximum capacity. This work is done year-round and becomes even more critical ahead of known weather events.
Prior to Tropical Storm Debby, the teams removed more than 84 tons of debris from drainage ditches and street sweeping operations. A similar, all-hands-on deck approach is underway now and will continue ahead of this week's weather event.
