Emergency crews with the City of Tampa are working to fix a wastewater overflow into the Hillsborough River in the south Seminole Heights neighborhood. The cause of the problem at the Louisiana Pumping Station at Rivercrest Park appears to be a pipe clog of undetermined origin.
City crews have been working to clear the clog and have engaged a contractor to set up a portable bypass system around the pumping station. That work is expected to be complete at midnight.
Drinking water is not affected. State and county regulators have been informed.
