The City of Tampa, in partnership with the Tampa Bay Juneteenth Coalition, invites the public to the 6th Annual Juneteenth Flag Raising Ceremony & Festival on Friday, June 13, from 5:00PM to 8:00 PM at City Center at Hanna Avenue (2555 East Hanna Avenue).
This free community event honors Juneteenth, a federal holiday marking the end of slavery in the United States, with an evening filled with cultural celebration, local entertainment, and a ceremonial flag raising.
The evening’s program will begin with performances by the Bay Area Drum Academy and Majorettes and the National Anthem performed by the Tampa Fire Rescue Hometown Heroes Chorus. The program will also highlight our local Juneteenth Queens and the Blake High School Color Guard will present the Juneteenth flag.
“Juneteenth marks a turning point in our nation’s history, and it’s important that we take time to remember it,” said Mayor Jane Castor. “Raising the flag together in East Tampa is a way for our city to show respect for our shared history and celebrate the progress we continue to make together.”
The event will also feature free food (while supplies last) and local vendors showcasing Black-owned businesses, artists, and designers from across the Tampa Bay area.
