TAMPA, FL. (July 16, 2025)- The Tampa Police Department is proud to report a continued decline in crime during the first half of 2025 compared to the same time last year.
This progress reflects not only the dedication of our officers to reducing violent crime, but also the trust and collaboration we have built with residents throughout the city. As we invest in new technology and data-driven strategies, our focus remains to protect our neighborhoods, empower our community, and ensure Tampa remains one of the safest cities of its size in the nation.
Newly released crime statistics for the first six months of 2025 underscore these achievements:
• Violent Crime is down 19%
• Overall Crime is down 22%
• Homicides are down 63%
“We are proud of this milestone, but it’s not one we reached alone. It’s because of the commitment of our officers and the active involvement of our community,” said Chief Lee Bercaw.“It’s a testament to the importance of building and maintaining strong relationships with those we serve, as we continue to fulfill our mission of making Tampa safer, together.”
The Tampa Police Department will continue empowering the community with information needed to take an active role in helping to keep Tampa safe. This includes initiatives such the expansion of our Police Athletic League programming and our Signal 87 Summits.
