City of Tampa to Host Follow-up Meeting for Neighborhood Sound Study

This information is 3 months 2 weeks old and may no longer be accurate.

The City of Tampa, in partnership with noise consulting firm HMMH, invites community members to attend a follow-up meeting focused on understanding how sound impacts daily life across Tampa neighborhoods.

The meeting will take place on Monday, August 18, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with the option to attend virtually.

Prior to the meeting, Development and Economic Opportunity Administrator Abbye Feeley will be available Monday morning at Old City Hall to speak with media about the study and its next phase.

This session follows the recent citywide sound survey that gathered valuable input from residents. Residents were asked several questions, including how they would rate the general noise level in their neighborhood, what time of day they notice noise, common sources of noise, and if it has ever impacted the ability to sleep, work from home or relax. Now, the City and HMMH will explain the reason for the study, discuss key takeaways and next steps, and continue the conversation about how sound affects our shared spaces — from traffic and construction to nightlife and public events.

“Let’s work together to better understand the noise and find the right balance for our community,” said Mayor Jane Castor. “Your voice is essential in shaping solutions that reflect the needs of all Tampa residents.”

Resident feedback remains a vital part of this process. Community input at the follow-up meeting will help guide the next phase of Tampa’s comprehensive sound study and inform future noise policy recommendations.
