City's New Traffic Platform Makes Travel Easier
Tampa drivers will now be traveling more efficiently thanks to the City of Tampa's usage of cutting-edge mapping technology.
One.network is a traffic solutions platform that helps reduce congestion, enhance work-zone safety, and improve overall traffic management. No new apps or sign-ups required -- everything takes place behind the scenes.
With One.network, the City's traffic managers and construction crews can update work zones, road and lane closures, and other traffic issues through just a few simple clicks. This information is then sent directly to the major GPS providers including Google, Waze, Apple Maps and others, typically within 5 minutes. The new technology is a huge upgrade from the older, much slower methods like spreadsheets and emails.
The platform's real-time map can be viewed at tampa.gov/road-closures. It features icons that note the type of work, traffic impacts, and timelines which are extremely helpful during trip planning.
The City launched One.network in January of 2024 joining other local agencies like the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), Hillsborough County, and the Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA), all of whom also use the platform. This regional collaboration helps everyone stay aligned on construction and traffic concerns in real time.
Also, because other local agencies use the platform, Tampa's traffic managers can now expand their view beyond city limits to better anticipate issues in neighboring communities that could affect Tampa drivers. This also helps improve work zone safety by giving drivers a better heads-up about construction projects and how to avoid them.
REMINDER: Always follow all posted signage and drive with extra caution in and around all work zones.
