The Tampa Convention Center is excited to welcome the community to two festive, family-friendly holiday events along the Tampa Riverwalk this season. From the annual Tampa Riverwalk Holiday Tree Lighting to a special visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, locals and visitors alike can enjoy memorable waterfront celebrations, all for free.
Both events offer free holiday fun in one of the most beautiful locations in the city. With scenic views, walkable access to downtown attractions, and plenty of family-friendly activities, the Tampa Convention Center waterfront is the perfect place to celebrate the season.
Tampa Riverwalk Holiday Tree Lighting

The Tampa Convention Center and The Sail Plaza are proud to be the official venue for one of Tampa’s most beloved holiday traditions: the Tampa Riverwalk Holiday Tree Lighting. Families can enjoy music, festive entertainment, and a stunning waterfront backdrop as the community gathers to kick off the season.
With the tree lighting taking place at 6:30 PM, guests are encouraged to arrive early, take in the views along the Riverwalk and decorations at The Sail Plaza, and enjoy an evening filled with holiday magic, lights, and cheer. This free outdoor celebration is perfect for Tampa families, couples, and anyone looking for a fun and festive way to start the holidays.
Santa & Mrs. Claus Visit The Sail Plaza

Tampa families won’t want to miss a special holiday appearance from Santa and Mrs. Claus at The Sail Plaza. Children can enjoy a free meet-and-greet, take photos with Santa, and soak in the waterfront atmosphere at one of the best spots on the Tampa Riverwalk. Plus, enjoy the festive decor at The Sail Plaza.

Getting Here & Parking
Visiting the Tampa Convention Center waterfront is easy, with several convenient City of Tampa parking options and multiple car-free transportation choices perfect for families.
The three closest City of Tampa Parking Garages are:
- Tampa Convention Center Parking Garage (Brorein St.)
- Pam Iorio Parking Garage (Channelside Dr.)
- Fort Brooke Parking Garage (Whiting St.)
All are just a short walk to the Tampa Convention Center, The Sail Plaza, and the Riverwalk.
Free TECO Line Streetcar
For a stress-free and family-friendly option, ride the TECO Line Streetcar, which is free and connects Ybor City, Channelside, and Downtown Tampa. The closest stop, Dick Greco Station, is just steps from the Tampa Convention Center.
Pirate Water Taxi
For a scenic arrival, the Pirate Water Taxi offers multiple stops along the river, including a stop directly at the Tampa Convention Center. It’s a fun and memorable way for families to travel along the Tampa Riverwalk.
