TAMPA, FL. (APRIL 13, 2026) - - Tampa Police are investigating a shooting that took place at 9:22 am near the intersection of E. Kennedy Blvd and N. Meridian Ave. that left a white male in his mid-50s with a gunshot wound. He has been transported to a nearby hospital in critical, but stable, condition.
The shooter, also a white male in his mid-50s, was quickly detained and a gun has been taken into evidence. All parties are accounted for and there are no outstanding suspects.
While early in the investigation, preliminary information suggests this was not a random act of violence and both parties are known to each other. Early evidence suggests that this incident may stem from an altercation between the two that took place on Friday.
Westbound traffic along Kennedy Blvd is currently being diverted to allow for the investigation. Travelers are asked to use alternate routes at this time.
