TAMPA, FL. (MAY 4, 2026) - - Tampa Police are conducting a death investigation after a body was discovered in a retention pond on Monday morning.
At 7:51 am, officers responded to a call for service in the 2200 block of N. Westshore Blvd regarding the report of a body in the water. Officers located a deceased adult black male. Members of the Tampa Police Dive Team responded to recover the body. Detectives are currently working to confirm the man’s identity and notify his next of kin. The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the exact cause and manner of death.
It is very early in this active investigation. Investigators are on-scene gathering evidence to determine the circumstances leading up to this incident. Further details can be released as the investigation allows.
