TAMPA, FL. (JUNE 22, 2026) - - A new generation of public servants is officially ready to answer the call of duty as twenty-two dedicated individuals prepare to take their oath as Tampa Police Officers.
On Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 2:00 pm, Mayor Jane Castor and Chief Lee Bercaw will formally welcome these new recruits during a swearing-in ceremony at the Bob Buckhorn River Center, located at 402 W. Laurel St. This milestone event represents far more than the start of a career; it reflects a profound, ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone who lives, works, or visits the City of Tampa.
This incoming class brings a strong mix of local roots and seasoned experience to the department. Among the recruits are five Tampa natives, seventeen individuals with prior law enforcement experience, and seven who are proudly continuing a family legacy of wearing the badge. The class also draws strength from six military veterans; including two Marines, three U.S. Army soldiers, and one Air Force service member; whose discipline and dedication protected our nation and will now protect our community.
Members of the public are invited to attend the ceremony to show their support and welcome these officers as they join in our mission of making Tampa safer, together. For those who cannot attend the celebration in person, the entire event will be streamed live on www.facebook.com/TampaPD.
