City of Tampa Names Robert Scott as Housing and Community Development Director
The City of Tampa has named Robert Scott as its new Housing and Community Development Director.
Scott brings more than 15 years of experience leading federally-funded housing, community development, and neighborhood revitalization initiatives, with expertise in affordable housing, economic development, strategic planning, and organizational leadership.
Prior to joining the City of Tampa, Scott served as Director of Community Reinvestment for Columbus Consolidated Government in Georgia, where he managed more than $15 million annually in federal and local investments supporting affordable housing, economic mobility, infrastructure improvements, homelessness response, and neighborhood revitalization. During his tenure, he launched nationally recognized initiatives, strengthened organizational performance, and helped earn multiple national awards for innovation and excellence in community development.
"Rob Scott has dedicated his career to expanding access to affordable housing and creating stronger, more resilient communities," said Mayor Jane Castor. "His proven ability to build partnerships, deliver results, and think strategically makes him the right leader to help us continue addressing Tampa's housing needs while creating more opportunities for residents to thrive."
As Housing and Community Development Director, Scott will oversee the City's affordable housing initiatives and programs, including the administration of federal and state housing resources. He will work closely with community partners, the City's Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, the Community Redevelopment Agency, and local stakeholders to advance the city’s housing priorities.
"I am honored to join the City of Tampa and contribute to the incredible work already underway to address housing affordability," said Rob Scott. "Housing is the foundation of strong communities, and I look forward to working alongside our dedicated staff, community partners, and residents to build innovative solutions."
Scott's leadership philosophy centers on building sustainable systems that create lasting public impact through collaboration, innovation, and strategic investment. His experience spans affordable housing development, federal grant administration, economic development, neighborhood revitalization, and organizational leadership.
"Rob's experience leading complex housing and community development programs, combined with his collaborative approach and forward-thinking leadership will be a tremendous asset to our team and to the residents we serve," said Development and Economic Opportunity Administrator Abbye Feeley. "As Tampa continues to grow, Rob will help us build on the momentum we've created."
Scott officially begins his role as Housing and Community Development Director on July 6.
