Arrest made in Ybor shooting

TAMPA, FL (October 18th, 2021) - On October 9th, 2021 at 2:49 a.m., Anthony Carnegie III (D.O.B. 11/04/2004), was walking with two other unknown individuals in Ybor City through the parking lot at the Northwest corner of Angel Olivia St and 7th Av E. Carnegie III and the two unknown males got into a verbal altercation with the victim. One of the unknown subjects fired a gun at the victim and caused the victim to return fire with his handgun in the middle of a crowded parking lot.

Carnegie III is then seen on camera firing a handgun at the victim in response and then flees the scene South through the parking lot and West on 7th Av. He was observed on several video surveillance systems walking along 7th Av clearly showing his face and clothing before and after the incident. He was observed fleeing the scene and was identified by several sources.

During a consensual interview with Carnegie III, he identified himself on video and admitted to being involved in the incident. He engaged in a gun battle with the victim after his unidentified associate fired the first round. There were a total of 26 rounds fired at the scene. A total of 4 unoccupied vehicles were struck during the gunfight.

Carnegie III was charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence, Carrying Concealed Firearm, Improper Exhibition of a Dangerous Weapon or Firearm, Discharge Firearm in Public, Minor in Possession of a Firearm.

The case remains under investigation.
